- losing Leli forever—that is, losing the fallen angel "Imperator" who made her what she is and commands her actions in the war to preserve reality. Hellfire is devoted to Leli to the point of (non-romantic) love—and, fun fact, love is a crime by the laws of the Nobilis.
- not being strong enough/powerful enough/useful enough to continue being used by the people she cares about
- that she'll forget how to believe that reality exists as anything more than a disfigurement of the Not
- if there was a world where swords never ever existed at all and no one knew what a sword was would that be fucked up or what
